These earrings are copper with sterling silver ear wires. The "draped" look is created by corrugating the metal and then selectively pinching the folds at certain points (called "smocking") to create this beautiful effect reminiscent of draped fabric. The way light and shadow accentuate the folds is wonderful. And as an added bonus - they look great on!The copper is very thin (yet strong thanks to the folds) and a result these earrings are very lightweight! The copper has been sealed with a clear coat to prevent tarnishing.
